NJF seminar 422 Fostering healthy food systems through organic agriculture - Focus on Nordic-Baltic Region International Scientific Conference 25-27 August 2009 Estonia |
 |
| |
 |
Organic agriculture is growing at a high rate worldwide as well as in Nordic and Baltic countries. Demand for organic products is increasing because of consumers' concern about their health and the environment.
The Baltic and Nordic countries share many similarities when it comes to climate and growing conditions; however, they are very different when it comes to markets and structure of agriculture.
At this conference we want to share experiences of different countries and find solutions for the challenges the organic food systems face – from farm to fork.
|
 |
The scientific programme of the Conference is open to all fields of research involved in organic agriculture, the main topics being:
- Soil fertility and nutrient management
- Organic field crop production
- Organic horticulture
- Farming systems and environmental impacts
- Animal health and husbandry
- Food quality and human health
- Marketing, economy and policy
- Education

The abstracts of the oral and poster presentations will be published in NJF Report series.
The abstract (body without title) should not exceed 1000 characters with spaces.
Deadline for abstracts 2009-01-15
Abstract template
Title of presentation (in verdana 12 pt)
Name of author(s). Address and affiliation of authors. Telephone, fax and e-mail address of first author. If there is more than one address for the authors, use sub-scripts to indicate who is from which institute. (in verdana 10 pt italic)
Abstract body text (in verdana 10 pt).
The papers will be published in a special issue of the scientific journal Agronomy Research (peer-reviewed international journal, available online at http://www.eau.ee/~agronomy/).
NB! Deadline for submission of papers 2009-03-01
Papers are to be submitted to: luule.metspalu@emu.ee
Preparation of posters
Each poster presentation will be allocated one display board. The dimensions of the poster should be 1.2 m x 0.85 m in portrait orientation
The title of the poster and details of the author(s) must be included as part of the poster. It is recommended that details of author affiliations are kept to a minimum as affiliation and contact details will be shown within the Proceedings, so need not take up valuable space within the poster presentation.
Posters should be clear, simple and self-explanatory. Sub-headings (usually Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions) will often be appropriate.
Posters that are simply photographic enlargements of the published papers are not acceptable.
Text, including axis labels and legends on tables and figures, should be no smaller than 36 point (capitals = 9 mm high; lower case = 6 mm high). Headings should be in at least 72 point (capitals = 17 mm high; lower case = 12 mm high).
All tables, figures and photographs must be supported by captions/legends, and axes on graphs must be labelled. Photographs must be at least 230 x 180 mm. |
